How working on myself led me to self-healing
Looking back, I would describe a good part of my life with one word – melancholy. Despite the great happy events, many successes and achievements, there was always ubiquitous sadness in the background. Though, I would never describe myself as a depressed person because my optimism is unwavering. With years of working on myself, learning spiritual techniques, practising reiki and theta healing – I realized that I intuitively live self-healing, which is why I feel good despite the many and not easy challenges I face in recent years, and why I finally feel joy as well.
Self-healing is a daily conscious reminder that every part of us is important and deserves care and attention. I am convinced that only by acting on all segments of our being can we speak of true health that comes from the harmony of body, mind and spirit.
There is no one right way to live a ˝feel good˝ life, nor is my way perfect for you, but there is a way of care for body, mind and spirit that will bring everyone to their point of balance. It is up to each of us to find our own recipe for a harmonious life and to ultimately be well. The starting point is always within ourselves and actually getting to know ourselves, and that is exactly what so popular work on ourselves is all about. However, working on oneself is not something that ever gets done and brings an end to all of our problems. Working on myself is a lifelong journey and a daily choice, and my choice to deal with myself on all levels ultimately led me to self-healing. That healing came in waves, sometimes they were mild and gently rocked me, and sometimes they were healing storms. The sea always calmed down though, and then I could see a new horizon.
Confidence in life
From my experience of working on myself as well as with the people who have chosen me as a therapist, I have noticed that the biggest problem arises when we cannot accept insecurity, uncertainty and when the feeling that we have nothing to cling to becomes dominant. Change occurs the moment we realize that there will always be insecurities and that we cannot influence them, but that our view of uncertainty and the way we deal with it can always change. In order to be able to face uncertain periods and periods when we are not feeling well, it is important to build confidence in life and be completely open to accepting uncertainty.
Emotions that we would say have a negative effect on our mental health – like sadness and grief – are neither good nor bad, they are simply our reaction to the experience we are going through.
So sadness is not there to make us sad, but only an indicator of change and change within us. It offers time for the deepest transformations. Nature teaches us that all great transformations are painful. Is there a nicer example than the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly?
If you are looking for a way to practice self-healing please start by accepting that the emotionally painful periods in which we feel like we are simply falling apart and that we will not survive are never linear. They go through various stages and stages that intertwine with each other and dance a common dance. To reach the power of self-healing you need to indulge in that dance and meet yourself. Here are some ideas that can help you along the way:
You are not alone
-The need for belonging is expressed in human nature and it is not surprising that often the root of our suffering is in the feeling of deep loneliness. We think that we are the only ones to whom this happens, that we are the only ones who fail, that we are the only ones who make mistakes. How many times when life has gone in the wrong direction have you thought -Why is this (only) happening to me? Replace that question with the one -What does that teach me? and you will see that in the depths of every problem we face lies some wound that we need to heal. And remember – it happens to everyone. We have different challenges that we face, but what we all have in common is that we have some lessons to master. None of us is an isolated case, we are all a thread in the fabric of humanity with whom we share experiences and grow together every day.
Love yourself
– People who have a healthy relationship with themselves and those who tend to show love and compassion for themselves live a life that is happier and more fulfilled. When we are compassionate towards ourselves we do not blame, despise or condemn ourselves for the mistakes we have made. We then accept suffering and pain as an integral part of a range of human experiences and consciously choose how we will act next time in the same or similar situation. Compassion is one of the greatest human virtues, it is something that is practised, learned, lived and developed. To integrate compassion into ourselves and our lives we need to become aware that at every moment of our life puzzle we do not see the whole picture, but as each new field is revealed to us, our experience teaches us that there are other ways to live a life in which we primarily support ourselves.
Saved by patience
– As a biologist and a woman living far from the city, I really like to draw parallels with nature. Observing the life of the forest, I learned that all nature is waiting for the right moment. Just about every tree in the forest knows when it’s time to bloom when to enjoy the beauty of its broad canopy, when to take off its dress of leaves and most importantly when the only thing left is to wait for a new spring. Trust that something new and good is coming for us.
Be grateful
– I have noticed that in the crazy race of life, where we have so much to do, so many places to visit, so many people to see and so many problems to solve, a good part of us simply becomes blind to the wonders around us. I also noticed that there is one small and big trick, with which we can bring colours and magic into the grey of everyday life – this trick is called gratitude. Gratitude is a conscious choice at every moment of our lives, gratitude is a way of life, gratitude throws us on a slower but more present track and opens all our senses to the world around us.
New Joy – If you are currently having a hard time dealing with the opportunities in your life try to focus on some new joys. Life is full of opportunities, and every day we have the choice to choose something from a range called Existence. We do not have to have grandiose events and moments to paint the canvas of our lives with more beautiful and cheerful tones. Shift the focus and paint that canvas with colours you haven’t even noticed before. I’m sure we all have the gift of making our own masterpieces.
